Guy Crawley and his partner recently moved into their three-bedroom apartment near Bristol's Suspension Bridge. Designed in the traditional style of Regency architecture, the property is brand new with a fresh feel inside. The house was built with few storage solutions and here Guy explains how they went about adapting their home for their needs:
What were you trying to achieve?
‘Although the layout of the interior is ergonomic, the fact that we had no storage was a major issue and we needed room to discreetly house all our clothes, shoes, linens and other household items. In terms of furniture and accessories, our style is very much traditional, so we wanted a storage solution that would enhance our classic tastes.’
What space did you have to play with?
‘We wanted to create storage in two main areas – one in the dressing room which leads off the bedroom and another in the living room / dining area.
How did you make your choices?
‘We have moved many times and enjoy decorating but the company we had used for the wardrobes in our previous home is no longer in existence so we needed to find new designers and fitters. We went to a well-known high street store initially for our wardrobes, but the product they recommended was not their own and offered no storage suitable for our bedroom. They also didn’t offer special purchase terms. So, we checked online, found Sliderobes and called their showroom. The staff were immediately helpful and sent literature so we could look at the ranges on offer and organised a home visit for one of their designers to visit.
The designer spent a considerable time with us looking at the space we had to play with and offered sensible advice addressing our needs. We were shown 3D computer images of what the spaces could look like to help us make our choice in terms of colour and finishes. What’s more, we were offered attractive payment terms which made Sliderobes even more enticing.’
How does the new storage solution suit your needs?
‘We selected a taupe four-door solution for our dressing room which features plenty of space inside for clothes and linens. The interior shelves and hanging rails keep things neat and practical as well as stylish. For the living room/dining area, we chose a two-door bronze and mirror glass, with plenty of usable shelf space for china, glasses etc on one side and for books, CDs and DVDs on the other’.
Did your experience of Sliderobes meet your expectations?
‘The Sliderobes’ fitter was scrupulously clean and meticulous in his attention to detail. His work was excellent and all was achieved in a day.’
Would you recommend Sliderobes to your friends?
‘We remain delighted with the product and have been singing the praises of Sliderobes ever since.’
