Let's face it - no matter how deceivingly nice the weather forecast may look for the UK in summer 2015, we can always rest assured that we will be spending quite a portion of the summer inside our house; whether we're lucky enough to be prepping for a barbeque or simply avoiding the inevitable British summer showers has yet to be decided!
With this in mind, why not bring a new splash of colour into your home this summer? Whether its soft pastels, bold clashing statement colours, or different shades of the same colour, the colour trends of 2015 leave plenty of choice for the interior design enthusiast.
The summer months lend themselves to visitors – whether a casual barbeque or a night in with the girls (or boys), so delight your guests by starting your colour re-design with the epicentre of the home – the living room. Beautifully unexpected combinations such as purple and bright yellow, turquoise with lemon, or coral combined with blue have been the talk of the world of interiors. It doesn’t matter how brave you are – an unexpected colour combination can work in small accessories or in a colour scheme for the entire room. It’s always good to experiment, and these bold colour statements are sure to be a talking point for guests. Some of the best inspiration has come from small loft apartments in New York and Paris – but there’s no reason to believe that a dramatic fusion of colours wouldn’t work just as well in a UK living room. It’s always a good feeling to be at the forefront of a trend, and combining two colours that aren’t traditionally associated with each other can be the best way to bring some worldly sophistication and glamour into your home.
For the outdoorsy folks amongst us, why not bring some nature into your living room? This summer, living room décor ideas offer you the chance to go green -quite literally! Olive green has been one of the key colours of 2015 thus far, and the trend isn’t going to die out anytime soon. Green is a fantastic colour to combine with other shades of the same colour – a wide range of green shades in one room can be surprisingly beautiful. Again, this can be incorporated in whatever way you see fit – from small accessories to a larger colour statement. Green, as a colour, is also said to promote tranquillity and health as a colour for an interior space; perfect for a restful front room. With this colour scheme, you can also indulge your green fingers and bring some beautiful indoor plants into your living room.
A trend that has been impossible to ignore in 2015 is pastel colours; whether it be a pale ice blue, a soft dusky pink or a muted lemon, pastels are here and here to stay! Although the shade may put some interior fans off due to its somewhat twee associations, pastel is not to be underestimated. It’s easy to incorporate pastel features into a home by pairing pastels with creamy, sandy hues. This ensures that the look is understated and classic – while remaining bang on trend. A perfect example of how to incorporate pastels perfectly into a space is our Blue Glass Sliding Wardrobe – a soft, classic sliding wardrobe that is subtle and understated; ideal for bringing pastels into any room in your home.
The colour trends of 2015 are all about expressing yourself through colour – bring your individuality out to play and get inspired to make your home even more beautiful this summer.
