Everyone remembers the scene from Bridget Jones diary when the handsome Mr Darcy reveals his festive Christmas jumper. Cue alarm bells with the fashion police en route. Fast forward a few years and it seems that we can't get enough of them!
This year, Christmas jumpers have popped up in every high street store with Santa, Reindeer, Christmas trees and Snowmen as the patterns of choice. Men, women and children have embraced over the top jumpers with bobbles, LED lights and glitter.
Fashion bloggers have shown their support for the trend with fairisle knits and oversized woollen sweaters making a comeback If you’re still hunting for the perfect festive jumper then follow our top tips;
* Vintage shops will have plenty of 70s and 80s style jumpers to choose from. Remember the Wham video for ‘Last Christmas’? Team a polo neck with your Christmas jumper for a vintage edge. Just don’t team it with a George Michael mullet. Never a good look.
* From Primark to Gap and from New Look to Urban Outfitters, there are plenty of jumpers on the high street for any budget. But get in there quick as the good ones are getting snapped up.
* Ebay and ASOS marketplace have some great vintage and new jumpers on offer for bargain prices. Searching through them will be time consuming but chances are you will find something unique so there’s no awkward ‘same jumper’ disaster.
* If you can’t find what you want then create your own! If you can get a plain or fairisle knit jumper, simply visit your local haberdashery shop and pick up a few bobbles, Christmas badges and ribbons.
Once you’ve got your fab Christmas jumper sorted, accessories are a must. There’s nothing that screams Christmas more than a flashing set of earrings! Finish with a fluffy scarf and mittens and you’re good to go.
After all, if you can’t dress festively at Christmas when can you?
Save the Children are asking you to wear a Christmas jumper on Friday 14th December and donate to a great cause. Not everyone this Christmas will be swapping gifts and enjoying a Christmas dinner. Many children will struggle to even get clean water. This is where you can help. Make a donation to Save the Children and help save a life, http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/christmas-jumper-day
